Twenty years ago, Kim and Aldo Romano left Long Island for Lancaster. This month, they finally got to put their own name on a New York deli.
Benny's New York Deli is open in the Village Shops at Brighton — on Erbs Quarry Road, across from the Fruitville Pike entrance to Bent Creek — and if you've driven past the "coming soon" sign wondering when, the answer is soon. After weeks of teasing it, the owners said it’s opening by the end of July.
Inside the cozy 1,600-square-foot shop you'll find made-to-order breakfast and lunch sandwiches, honest New York bagels, coffee, baked goods, salads, and gelato, plus a deli case of sliced meats and cheeses and a little market corner stocked with pasta and sauce. There's a handful of seats inside and a few more out front.
It's the kind of small, personal, hope-the-neighborhood-shows-up spot that a town roots for — a couple's long-held dream, finally open for business.

📚 Mainspring's First Saturday: Back to the Books — Whistle Stop Plaza, 16 E. Main St, Ephrata, PA 17522. Saturday, August 1, book walk 2:30–4:30 p.m., evening festivities 4:30–8:00 p.m. The nonprofit Mainspring of Ephrata hosts a free downtown book walk and First Saturday celebration — families read a featured story through downtown storefronts, then it opens up to live music, vendors, and food; this year's book is the kids' graphic novel Fitz and Cleo.
