COMMUNITY NEWS
Humane Action Pennsylvania is joining ExtraGive.
Humane Action Pennsylvania (HAP), a nonprofit that works to advance protections for animals across the state, will take part in Lancaster County's ExtraGive on Friday, November 20.
Many people think of animal nonprofits mainly as shelters and rescues.
HAP says its focus is broader: humane education, community outreach and advocacy aimed at the larger systems that affect animals.
This year, HAP says, it is using ExtraGive to build connections with Lancaster-area businesses and community members who want to support animal protection.
Local businesses can take part, HAP says, through matching gifts, fundraising partnerships or customer promotions, or simply by helping spread the word.
HAP is also looking for a Lancaster-area individual or business to provide a matching gift for its ExtraGive campaign.
The group is based in Pittsburgh, and its ExtraGive page lists a $1,000 goal.
ExtraGive is Lancaster County's one-day celebration of giving, now in its 15th year.
Since 2012, according to ExtraGive, 40,000 donors have raised more than $120 million for more than 500 organizations.
