COMMUNITY NEWS
A drive-in crew's win turns into classroom money.
The crew at the SONIC at 4247 Oregon Pike in Ephrata finished among the Top 12 SONICs in the country in this year's Dr Pepper SONIC Games, the company's annual training competition, according to SONIC's September 30 announcement.
To honor the team, the SONIC Foundation is donating $10,000 to fund classroom projects for public school teachers in the Ephrata area.
The money goes through DonorsChoose, a site where people donate directly to classroom requests from public school teachers.
If you're a public school teacher in the Ephrata area, SONIC encourages you to submit your classroom project at DonorsChoose.org/teachers for a chance at the funding.
And the crew isn't finished.
SONIC says the team will travel to Orlando in October to compete for the title of top SONIC in the country.
The company says more than 3,400 SONIC locations took part in this year's games, and the Foundation is donating $500,000 in all to communities represented by the Top 50 teams.
