Iron Hill Brewing Is Coming Back to Lancaster County

Raise a pint - Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant is returning to Lancaster County, with a mid-April reopening on the horizon. The beloved gastropub chain shuttered its doors abruptly in September 2025, but original ownership stepped back in, acquiring 10 locations for $12 million through bankruptcy proceedings. For the locals who considered Iron Hill their go-to spot for craft beer and a solid meal, this is welcome news. The return also means jobs back in the community and a familiar gathering place restored. Keep an eye out for their official opening announcement.

Members 1st Foundation Invests $50,000 in Local Nonprofits

Members 1st Federal Credit Union's charitable foundation awarded $50,000 in grants to 12 nonprofits across the region, and Lancaster County is well represented. A Week Away Foundation and Aaron's Acres are among this cycle's recipients - both organizations doing meaningful work supporting youth and families right here at home. Grant recipients were selected for their commitment to financial education, economic opportunity, health access, and community enrichment. If your organization works in any of those areas, take note: the foundation's second funding cycle of 2026 closes May 1.

FEATURED STORY

The niche fragrance shop drawing customers from D.C., Long Island, and Baltimore - tucked inside a Lancaster County strip mall

Most people stumble into The Scent Masters by accident. Almost none of them leave without a story.

Roger, the 40-year fragrance industry veteran behind the shop at the Shops at Rockdale, didn't arrive in Lancaster County by grand design either - it was his brother's idea, a suggestion that a city boy from New York might find something worth staying for. He did.

What he built here is something genuinely rare: a destination fragrance boutique stocked wall-to-wall with niche brands - think Clive Christian, Electimuss, Liquides Imaginaires - that draws serious perfume enthusiasts from across the Mid-Atlantic. Customers call it "Lancaster's best well-kept secret." Some travel hours just to smell what's new on the shelves.

Personally, this is where I go for all of my scents (I’m big into fragrances and have a good sized collection).

Roger's philosophy is rooted in old-school customer care - time, attention, and the belief that finding the right fragrance is a personal experience that can't be rushed.

He's helped couples choose their wedding scents. He's guided first-timers through their very first signature fragrance. Every visit, he says, is part of the shop's DNA.

And there's something exciting on the horizon: Scent Masters is developing its own line of fragrances - "classy, sophisticated scents" made with natural ingredients - with a possible debut as early as this summer.

Whether you're a lifelong fragrance enthusiast or just curious what all the fuss is about, Roger's invitation is simple: come smell for yourself.

Friday, April 3 - A near-perfect spring day is on tap, with highs around 77°F and clouds clearing out as the day goes on. Tonight dips to around 60°F with a slight chance of a late thunderstorm - so if you're heading out for First Friday, enjoy the warm evening and maybe have a plan B if the sky gets dramatic after midnight.
