Sixteen of your neighbors are about to pitch the businesses they spent the summer building, a French circus is raising a big top at Tanger Outlets this week, and Mount Joy is throwing itself a half-birthday party.

Sixteen people spent their summer building a business. This month they have to get on a stage and defend it.
Since early June, sixteen Lancaster County entrepreneurs have been meeting through the Idea Incubator at ASSETS, the Lancaster nonprofit that runs it — hands-on workshops, mentorship, and a lot of honest feedback from the other fifteen people in the room.
The lineup reads like the county itself. In Da Bun is a veteran-owned food business selling New York–style hot dogs.
Bread and Salt is a bakery built around traditional Egyptian baked goods.
Mountain Laurel Sewing Company is handmade goods and sewing.
Lee's Teez prints athletic apparel designed for women.
There's a salon growing into full-service hair, skin and nails (Kreate Endlessly Studio), an accountant renting herself out to companies that can't justify a full-time one (Arcane Accounting), an interior designer who also declutters (Kelter Lifestyle), a commercial cleaning company, and a guide who takes people out into the woods on purpose (Living Wild Collective).
Several are building mental health practices — Kukoa, Baraka Family Mental Health Services and Aftercare Compass among them.
This month, every one of them takes the stage at Pitch & Brew and presents to a panel of judges. Five will move on to compete in the 2026 Great Social Enterprise Pitch.
Sixteen people who had an idea in the spring and a business plan by August. Whatever happens on that stage, that part already happened.
