COMMUNITY

Flags Along Wilson Drive: A Thousand Small Acts of Gratitude

Just before Memorial Day weekend, volunteers - veterans and civilians alike - lined Wilson Drive between Columbia and Marietta avenues with American flags, part of a tradition that also sees more than 2,200 flags planted for Veterans Day each year. It's the kind of quiet, collective gesture that says something true about this community: that people here still show up, still want to honor those who served, and still believe that a row of flags along a county road means something. If you drove through and felt it, you weren't alone.
