Good morning, Lancaster County. It's the last Monday of June, the sun's already out, and we're staring down a week that ends in fireworks. Before the Fourth takes over, there's a packed run of music, baseball, lavender, and one downtown landmark that just got its old job back.

In today's Lancaster Local:

  • A 1924 bank on Lititz's Main Street reopens as — fittingly — a bank again

  • "1776" takes the stage at Historic Rock Ford on the exact anniversary it dramatizes

  • A holiday-weekend lineup of chicken BBQ, car shows, lavender fields, and a Dead tribute

  • Stormers baseball comes home as the club sends its ninth player to the majors this year

COMMUNITY NEWS

The corner building came full circle this weekend.

For most of a century, the limestone landmark at 1 E. Main Street in downtown Lititz was a bank. On Saturday, after a careful restoration, Ephrata National Bank made it one again — celebrating the 1924 building that started life as the Lititz Springs National Bank with a grand-opening celebration from noon to 4.

It's a small thing and a nice thing at the same time: an old building put back to the exact use it was built for, right in the middle of a town that pays attention to its history. ENB didn't drop in a generic branch, either. Community Banking Manager Jason Groff calls the office "more than a bank — it's a connection to the heart of the community," and the crew there is already a regular face at Lititz staples like Fire & Ice, Pretzel Fest, and the goings-on at Lititz Springs Park.

If you've walked Main Street and wondered what was happening behind that grand old facade, now you know — the lights are back on, and the doors are open.

Weather

Monday, June 29 — Mostly sunny and a summery 88°, barely a 3% chance of rain, so make the most of the morning before the heat settles in. Fair warning: it only climbs from here — low 90s Tuesday, pushing toward the upper 90s by midweek — so keep the water bottle close.
