My Vegan Baker Is Getting Its Own Front Door
Lancaster's My Vegan Baker - already a fixture in the wholesale and online market - is opening a brick-and-mortar retail location this spring at 513 Leaman Ave in the Millersville Center shopping plaza.
Owner Jessica Bunting is bringing her plant-based creations to a 750-square-foot storefront, giving local residents a dedicated spot to browse and buy without placing an order online.
For the growing number of Lancaster County residents eating plant-based, this is the neighborhood shop they've been waiting for. Keep an eye on myveganbaker.com for the official opening date.
La Cajita Is the Little Box With a Lot to Say
There's a reason regulars keep coming back to 401 W. Walnut St. in Lancaster City. La Cajita - Spanish for "the box," or more fittingly, the lunchbox - is a Puerto Rican-inspired sandwich shop co-owned by Jocelyn Morales and Blanca Cintron-Vidal, two local women who grew a catering operation into a full brick-and-mortar destination.
The menu goes deep: bold sandwiches, loaded hot dogs, mofongo bagels, tropical smoothies, hot cakes, and desserts that keep people lingering long after the last bite. If you haven't discovered it yet, consider this your nudge.

FEATURED LANCASTER COUNTY STORY: Heaven On Earth For Dogs - Right In Your Backyard!

Tucked away in the northern reaches of Lancaster County - past the farmland and familiar roadside stands - there's a paradise that dogs seem to discover with their whole bodies.
The tail goes up and their whole body stands at attention, excited because they know where they are (and it’s NOT the vet this time).
What makes a place earn that kind of loyalty from an animal with no agenda?
Dogs, famously, do not fake enthusiasm.
So when a pup gleefully pops up because they’re at a familiar happy place, you know it to be true.
This week's featured story takes you there - a hidden green stretch that locals have quietly treasured and dogs love to visit.
Part nature, part community gem, part argument for slowing down and letting your dog lead the way for once.
We won't spoil the location or the magic. That's what the story's for.
Thursday, March 19 - Highs around 49°F with some sunshine breaking through the clouds today, giving way to a mostly cloudy evening with lows dipping to 35°F. A good excuse to grab a warm meal somewhere local before the temperatures fall.
Thanks for reading Lancaster Local. There's a lot of good happening in this county, and it's a privilege to help surface it every morning. If you found something useful - a new restaurant to try, a mud sale to visit, a show to catch - forward this to someone who still gets their news from a Facebook group.
