Community News
The County's Only Mobile Shower Unit Was About to Shut Down. Then Lancaster Did Lancaster Things.
Twice a week, Refresh Lancaster rolls out and offers something most of us never think twice about: a hot shower, plus basic medical care, for low-income and homeless neighbors. It's the only mobile hygiene unit in the county - and this spring, it was on the edge of shutting down for good.
The ask was steep: $100,000 raised by June 30, or the program ends. The kind of deadline that quietly kills good programs all the time.
This one didn't die. What the community actually handed over - and what program lead Alexa Morales said she'd do if her body still allowed it - is the kind of answer that makes you proud to get this newsletter in a Lancaster County inbox.
The community really came together - neighbors helping neighbors - and raised over $115,000.
