Bundle Up, It’s A Cold Day!

Morning Lancaster,

I don’t know about you, but today feels like a good day to lean into comfort food, local stories, and plans that don’t require being outside for too long. Here’s what’s worth your time today.

Mmm, Chili!
Lickity Split in New Holland is turning up the heat today from 11am–7pm with their annual Chili January Day

Cold day?

Chili solves that.

The lineup includes three cozy, house-made chilis - Black Bean Sweet Potato, Tailgate (sausage + beef), and White Bean Chicken - each served with grilled homemade cornbread. Go for a cup, a bowl, or commit fully to the chili trio.

Dine in or grab it to-go and let your car smell amazing all afternoon.

History Of Lancaster County, PA
Worth a Read: The Bridge That Changed Lancaster County History

Local history fans will want to check out a new piece from Uncharted Lancaster on the Columbia–Wrightsville Covered Bridge, once the longest covered bridge in the world.

In June 1863, as Confederate troops advanced north, Union militia made a desperate call to burn the bridge - collapsing the mile-long structure into the Susquehanna and stopping the invasion cold at the river’s edge.

Lancaster County was spared, but the dramatic decision permanently changed the landscape and the course of local history.

Calling All Theatre Fans
Finding Bright Spots at the Fulton

A Screenshot Of The Fulton’s Website

Winter in Lancaster can feel a little quieter - earlier sunsets, colder nights, and fewer reasons to linger downtown.

That’s part of what makes this moment at The Fulton Theatre feel special.

From January 16 through February 1, the Fulton is staging Every Brilliant Thing, a play that blends humor and heart while exploring what keeps people going through hard seasons. It’s built around small joys, shared moments, and the idea that even difficult conversations can bring people closer when experienced together.

There’s something comforting about sitting in a warm theater on a cold night, surrounded by neighbors, all paying attention to the same story.

This feels like one of those shows that meets winter where it is - reflective, human, and quietly uplifting.

If you’ve been looking for a reason to get out of the house this week, this might be a good one.
