Today’s Local Interest Story
Morning Lancaster, it’s chilly but sunny today. I woke up to see the sunshine. It’s great to see as it’s been so cloudy recently.
Onto today’s stories.
A pig that famously escaped from a truck on Route 30 in Lancaster County last week has now been safely rehomed, giving a happy ending to a quirky local story. The pig is safe, happy, and healthy.
Music In Town
The Lancaster Symphony Orchestra Has A Free Public Rehearsal Thursday At 4pm
Guests can observe the musicians as they refine specific sections of the music, gaining an inside perspective on how a symphonic performance is shaped and polished. These rehearsals are open to the public, offer general admission seating, and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
PET OF THE WEEK
Meet Bun Jovi - Our Pet Of The Day

Bun Jovi is at the Lancaster Center of Animal Life-Saving on Lincoln Highway. She appears to be an adorable Mini Lop, or maybe Holland Lop (I had a bunny and we weren’t sure which breed as they’re VERY similar - Bun Jovi could be both).
LOCAL ECONOMY
Central Market Is Open Today!
Lancaster Central Market is open today (Tuesday, 6am–3pm), and it’s one of the best places in town to grab lunch, stock up on local goods, or just wander for a bit.
If you haven’t been recently, the market’s prepared-food lineup is especially strong right now.
Vendors like Seoulmates Korean Kitchen (warm, comforting Korean street food), Callaloo (Caribbean flavors), and Inna’s Pierogi Shop make it easy to turn a quick stop into a great lunch.
For something sweet, bakeries like Amaranth Bakery and Lancaster Pie & Coffee are always worth a visit.
Even in the winter months, you’ll still find fresh local produce, baked goods straight from the oven, and plenty of hot coffee to warm up.
Weather Update
The Cold Weather Might Be Rolling Back In
Today is a nice break for January, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 40s — a great day to get out and run errands or stop by Central Market. I’m loving the sunlight this morning.
Clouds roll in Wednesday with similar temps and maybe a few light flurries late in the day.
By Thursday it turns colder and more wintry, with highs in the 30s and a chance of snow showers.
The weekend looks chilly but manageable, with a mix of sun and clouds and temps in the 30s to low 40s.
That’s todays updates,
Andrew From Lancaster Local
