COMMUNITY NEWS
The new chicken shop in Strasburg opened by pointing customers somewhere else.
Skip's Chicken is open at 11 West Main Street in Strasburg, and the way they announced it says more about the place than the menu does.
The post is what you'd expect at first — "Don't Skip Skip's Strasburg...NOW OPEN" — followed by the fried chicken sandwiches, the loaded fries, a new grilled sandwich. There's a separate gluten-free menu, including gluten-free versions of the chicken sandwiches and loaded fries. Then the last line:
"Grab some chicken, loaded fries or even a salad for dinner...and then head on over to Strasburg Creamery for dessert. Sounds like a perfect evening to us..."
A business that has been open for a matter of days, spending the end of its own opening announcement sending people to a different business.
It's the second brick-and-mortar Skip's, from an operation that started small. By their own account, three friends — Daniel and Kath Stoltzfus and Marcus Stoltzfus — began in 2021 with a food truck. Two brothers, Dan and Jeremy Cruz, came in later and opened the first actual storefront, in Wrightstown. The truck still runs out of Gault Road in Salisbury Township.
One practical note: their hours are inconsistent online. The opening announcement says Wednesday through Saturday, 4 to 9 p.m. The live ordering page currently shows the Strasburg store opening Tuesday at 4 p.m., with its hours panel listing Tuesday through Saturday, 4 to 8 p.m. A customer has already asked them which is right. Check the ordering page before you head over.
