Good morning, Lancaster County. It's a soggy stretch — showers and thunderstorms on and off through Wednesday, with highs around 80 before things turn drier and brighter Thursday. A good week, then, to duck under a market roof and start planning for a big first weekend of August. Here's what's worth circling on the calendar.

You can live here for years and never quite make it. Go once and you get it.
On the first Friday of every month, downtown Lancaster hands its streets over to art. The galleries and shops around Gallery Row stay open late, new exhibitions go up, and the blocks fill with people drifting from one show to the next, drink in hand, in no particular hurry.
The nice part is how easy it is. Most of it sits within a few walkable blocks, galleries and shops stay open into the evening, and from May through October the City runs free open-air trolley rides (5 to 8:30) to loop you around. Ewell Plaza turns into an open-air market for local artists, and because every gallery and vendor plans its own thing, no two First Fridays are ever quite the same.
If you've been meaning to go, the next one is Friday, August 7, from 5 to 9 p.m. Park once, wander, and let downtown show off a little.

A sprawling farmers-and-flea market that's been an Ephrata Friday tradition since 1932 — hundreds of stands of produce, meats, baked goods, and just about everything else, plus open-air auctions. Free to browse.
🌽 Bird-in-Hand Farmers Market — Bird-in-Hand Farmers Market, 2710 Old Philadelphia Pike, Bird-in-Hand, PA 17505. Wednesday through Saturday, 9 a.m.–5:30 p.m. (summer hours). An Amish-country market of farm stands, fresh-baked goods, meats and cheeses, and local crafts — a good rainy-week stop. Free to browse.
🎶 New Holland Summer Arts: Cody Tyler & Gypsy Convoy — New Holland Community Memorial Park, 400 E Jackson St, New Holland, PA 17557. Wednesday, August 5, 7:00–9:00 p.m. A free, all-ages country concert in the park to kick off the first week of August — bring a chair or a blanket; food trucks and ice cream on site. Free.
🎪 Manheim 1st Thursday — Historic Market Square, downtown Manheim, PA 17545. Thursday, August 6, 5:00–8:00 p.m. Downtown Manheim throws open its doors for a summer street evening — shops open late, food trucks and vendors around Market Square, and live music in the wine garden. Check the organizer's page for the finalized August lineup. Free.
🎨 First Friday — Gallery Row and downtown Lancaster, PA. Friday, August 7, 5:00–9:00 p.m. Downtown's monthly arts night: galleries open late with new work, an artists' marketplace at Ewell Plaza, and free open-air trolley rides to hop between them. Free.

Wednesday stays unsettled before noticeably drier, brighter weather arrives Thursday. Keep the umbrella close — and if you hear thunder, head indoors rather than under a tree.
