COMMUNITY NEWS

A Lancaster Mover Has Been Quietly Changing Lives Since February

Christian Santos founded Movers and Co. in Lancaster in 2017, and the family-owned company has moved more than 4,000 families across Lancaster, York, and Harrisburg since opening its doors. Now, Santos is channeling that experience into something more: a program called Move It Forward, launched in February, that donates one free local move per month to a Lancaster County family in need.

The move includes three crew members for up to three hours - the same full-service treatment every paying customer receives. Santos keeps it that way on purpose: his crew doesn't know the move is free. "Our customers are our neighbors," he said. "I think giving should be something you do year-round, not just at the Holidays." To date, Move It Forward has helped three Lancaster families.

Nominations are open at moversandcompany.com - churches and community centers are also helping identify families who could use a hand.
