COMMUNITY NEWS
F&M's 12th Arbor Day planting puts down new roots in the city
More than 40 members of the Franklin & Marshall College community gathered late last month for the school's 12th annual Arbor Day tree planting, adding two redbuds and a hawthorn to campus grounds. The redbuds will blaze pink each spring, and the hawthorn will offer white blossoms and berries that feed local songbirds well into fall. Organizers called the planting symbolic - a living reminder of the connection between the college and the City of Lancaster. If you walk the campus this week, keep an eye out for the newest additions; they're small now, but they're here to stay.
