The World's Only Rhubarb Race Car Derby Is Almost Here

Kitchen Kettle Village in Intercourse has been running its Rhubarb Festival for more than 40 years, and this year's edition - May 15 and 16 - might be the most joyfully zany event in Lancaster County's packed spring calendar.

The festival's signature draw is exactly what it sounds like: tiny race cars powered by rhubarb, rolling down a track in a competition that exists nowhere else on earth. Beyond the derby, the weekend includes a Rhubarb Parade, live music, rhubarb pies, dips, and a baking contest with proceeds going to Lancaster Farmland Trust. Mark your calendars - this one is a county original.
